Author Topic: Dad reads out his daughter's hate letter on youtube and shoots her laptop.  (Read 8625 times)

He said he would put a bullet through her laptop if she did something like that again, so he did. One of the few times I've actually seen a parent follow through with a threat. I think it's an over-the-top, but certainly a clear point that he's made to not only his daughter, but people all over the world by this time.

He seems to be incapable to pronounce Responsibility.

Also, The shooting of the laptop was totally justified. He warned her of the risk and she still didn't listen. Also, shooting it as opposed to selling it just shows how distressed he was that he was willing to give up ~$600 worth of stuff.

I'm not sure how much he gets paid for working at IT, but money probably isn't an issue. No doubt he isn't worried about the money he put into the laptop. This isn't just, "I'm taking your laptop away forever." It's more of a, "When you see this video, screw you *bam bam*."

She had it coming. Screw the people complaining about this and the controversy surrounding it, people are just angry to watch a laptop get shot up and go to waste.

This guy is brilliant.
I am damn sure his daughter learned from that.
If I did this I would probably get my computer shot aswell.

Difference is, if I did this, there'd be .338 Special rounds in it.

honestly this is what I was thinking.
it really does go to waste.
also, by doing this, this is what he teaches his daughter:
"when something pisses you off, destroy it."
kids are IMMENSELY affected by lessons their parents teach them.

But the laptop did nothing to piss of her father.

That poor laptop being victimized by that horrid man just to prove a point.

Saw this in school today.

Well
After having heard both sides, I have come to a decision.
She deserved punishment, but not overkill like this.

My dad has taught me lessons that will stick with me for life.
This is not what I want to learn from him - that if something makes you mad, destroy it.
I want to learn the opposite.

God damnit Daedalus.

I have smoked things and I am not impaired. Tobacco does not make you any less intelligent. There are loving ways of enjoying smoking without becoming addicted and getting cancer. There are medical forms of cigarettes. Using the fact that he smokes as a defense is literally the most handicapped thing I've heard all day.

You are generalizing and labeling. You're no better than the supposed people you're associating him with.

Secondly, it was his laptop. Not hers. He allowed her to have it, and then he took it away. He was making a point. Hiding it or having it out of her room still gives her to opportunity to use it secretively. He destroyed the damn thing because he was using her own tactics against her. Sensational letter calls for sensational action.

Thirdly, he had spoken with her about this before. Calmly and collectively they talked it out and he was probably assured that she would never do this sort of thing again. They did it your dad's way.

But then she did it again. You don't just talk about it again, because that is obviously not going to work. When diplomacy fails as an option then you don't just keep at it. Sure, maybe your father was lucky to have a son who actually listens to him so that talking works, but not all children are that behaved. Some of them are ungrateful little pricks who need to be taught a loving lesson about life. Don't loving bite off the hand that loving feeds you, else it might use a gun on your laptop.

I understand it was his laptop, no problem there. I'm just saying, it's still a waste. They better loving recycle the materials :u
And I'm not using his smoking as a defense. I have other arguments for why I think the daughter and the father are idiots. I'm just saying that to be smoking cigarettes, you'd have to be some level of stupid in the first place. Weed is much less harmful, although I am against weed as well - I've lost a few friends to it
I understood that she's a prick. I completely agree with that. She's an starfish and a moron.
But I'm saying that her upbringing must have caused her to be the prick she is, somewhere along the road.

And finally, my main argument against the father is not that he's a bad father, it's just that the lessons he's teaching by doing this sends mixed messages.

On one hand, yes - if you make an agreement ("don't rant against me or you'll lose your laptop"), follow through with it. Don't let your kids step all over you.
On the other hand, I find the execution to be unnecessary. To recycle the laptop, or to even donate it to his IT department, is less destructive and aggressive.

I hate when parents have to use scare tactics. They may be completely necessary sometimes, but I think in this case he could have handled it less destructively and aggressively.

Lol Daed you missed the point where she is going to pay ALL of that stuff back. And if she wants a laptop she has to buy her own.

Also, donating the computer or giving it to his IT dept would not send a clear enough message to her, shes that forgeted up. Put 8-9 hollow point explosive .45 round bullets in her laptop will.

how do we even know she's that forgeted up? she was just venting on facebook, not expecting her parents to see it
it's not like she yelled it at her parents.
yeah, she's a dipstuff, and an ass, but is it really uncommon for teenagers to vent their feelings? teenagers are angsty as forget.

deserved it in my opinion
Hbut certainly a clear point that he's made to not only his daughter
you mean a hollow point? :cookieMonster:

The only question I have is why did he have to pay for software if he was in IT?

because things cost money
