It's a hoax, OP is just saying he has heard the noises to make it more believable.
Problem is, I wasn't saying that to be funny.
I was going to bed, and this huge scrapping sound passed by, not as violent as some people discribe it. But my thoughts were, why are they scrapping the streets at this ungodly hour? Went to sleep, woke up, no more snow anywhere, no evidence of snow plows. Same thing next day, so I checked the streets nothing there as usual.
Depending on where it is, it could be Subways, Semi trucks, (if in the right location, the sound would resonate correctly), fog horns (ships) etc.
Subways and semis seems the most resonable, since most of the videos were taken in urban areas, so some lucky people, (Me included) got a 'resonant' area.
Why haven't I nothing before? They did take down a building three doors down and built on. But is it a bunch of people lieing, probably not.
