On arriving, the space around the planet seems to be mostly empty. Your man could still possibly be on the ground.

Send scouting party to land on semen covered planet.

Scan for lifesigns on the planet, and see if any of them possibly belong to the inquisitor before you send a squad into a possible Self Delete mission which may or may not involve a thousand xenos rushing you at once
