Author Topic: Is this a powerful gaming laptop?  (Read 3779 times)

Hello nerds

I have been looking for laptops that are all around good performing laptops from all different types of companies (no not dell/alineware) and my eyes have settled on this one

http://bit.ly/yxPM8t

Yes, I realize that it is not an i7, but still, i5 is pretty good nonetheless. It features a NVIDA® GeForce® GT 520M GPU graphics card, which I have heard good things about.

So just take a look at let me know. The things I want to be running smoothly are Minecraft, Blockland, Team Fortress 2, Garry's Mod, World of Warcraft, just the all around high necessity games.

So just let me know

it's somewhat powerful but i don't think it's worth 900.00 dollars

A guy I know bought a $900 vaio.
It sucks ass and can barely even run GTA IV on lowest settings
And it has 5400 rpm hard drive

you could find a better one around the $600 price range

This one seemed to have everything I need

64 Bit Processor
Intel Core i7 or i5
Num Pad
nVIDIA Graphics card
Back-lit Keyboard

Plus I found one of these in-store so I got to try it out. I never but any laptop without trying it out first, so don't link me to some random NewEgg laptop, I need to be able to try it out before I purchase it

But the question still remains, would it be able to run Blockland and Minecraft at full settings as well as Garry's mod and other games mentioned in the OP?

Doesn't have nVidia card, not sure about the back-lit keyboard, but with an i7 processor it's cheap.

GT520M... eh, not really at all.

Got you two choices, both with i5's but different prices and GPUs.

Dell XPS 17" with 6GB RAM and a GT550M, or...

ASUS 15" with 6GB RAM and a GT540M and cheaper by about $100.

Yeah but it has an Intel 3000 HD, won't run all those things too well.
Scratch that, it will run all the games in OP (Minecraft, not too sure though) on the lowest at playable rates.  But again it's the lowest settings and won't be pretty.

My brother uses a MacBook pro with Dual Core processor, and it runs Minecraft on highest settings with no lag at all. I was aware that i5's are ranked WAY higher than even quad core processors?

Also I like to try out laptops before purchasing them. Linking me to NewEgg does nothing to help me

my laptop that I bought almost a year ago is better and only cost $100 more (i7 core and 8GB ram for $999)

I would assume the price for the equivalent is much lower by now, but this looks otherwise

Isn't the best processor, but it will do what you want.
Out of stock though, best damn laptop for the price.

Buy a desktop. Cheaper and generally better.

He wants a laptop for the portability. Deal with it.

Mine was 800 and can run MW3 on Highest graphis and BF3 on generic graphics.
