If this devolves into a religion war I may or may not lock it depending on the amount of people participating in the argument.
That being said, I would like to know how many of you agree with the quoted statement and why.
First, some context. This is from MSN, a friend's opinion on marriage. This came up after I asked her if she'd marry a Jewish man - she said no. I then asked if she'd marry an Atheist - same answer. She's a Christian.
marriage is a union of two people before god
so if they dont believe in god
what is marriage
just some fancy ritual?
to prove you love someone?
thats bogus really
if i was atheist i wouldnt even care about being married
I can't believe she'd dismiss marriage entirely should she have been atheist. As an atheist myself, I someday hope to settle down and marry. Personally I view marriage as two people that love each other enough to have some sort of special bond, to me religion would have no part in it. I would happily marry anyone of any religion, but that's just me.
Do you feel the same way as she does? What is your opinion on marriage and why? If you are religious, would you marry someone of another religion? Why or why not?
The point of this thread is to help me understand where she's coming from - that's why I need opinions. (incase anyone is wondering why I'd make this thread)Remember - this topic should be
opinion based. Nobody is right, nobody is wrong.
