Author Topic: Have i done anything wrong? [Ports]  (Read 3335 times)

If any of its wrong tell me, i was able to host a while back. And everythings the same. Just now i cant host. (I Only have 1 DNS by the way).

Alternate DNS needs to be filled in I think. Also, make sure when you open a port its(For me its like this):192.168.1.The IP number, not the default 1.

I asked about hvaing 1 dns on portforward.com forums and they said it dont matter, and i dont get you on that last bit.

May I ask why are you setting up a static IP?
I forward ports with a dynamic IP, works like a charm.

I got all the stuff from Ip Config.

There.

I dont have that bit anywhere on mine.

Make sure the ports are UDP. Other than that, I think you have it right.

EDIT: nvm, you have it. Try setting 28000 to the trigger port, and UDP as the trigger protocol.

That screen that Flyguy posted depends on your router.
Try to find the part in your router which lets you port forward, than set it to look like this.
The problem with steam, is that they don't give me the last number for the ip tab, so it doesn't forward correctly.

I do set the thing to 28000 but it puts it on 28000-28032. I've been on every page on my router trying to find summin like that. I cant.

Find you default gateway:

Follow Badspot's tutorial:

As a side note, I never had to change the TCP/IP options, so I never had to set a static IP to host.
I'm using dynamic, and I can host just fine.

I've done all that.....

Default Gateways in there.
