Author Topic: Blockland and Vista/ATI  (Read 3240 times)

So... WILL there be a fix for the graphics problem with Vista and ATI? I sure hope so because I've searched around and seen so many people with the same problem; people who can no longer play the game they payed good money for. When I upgraded to Vista, the only thread on the OS was Badspot saying that it worked on his vista so I thought it would work. Does that not mean, that if there was no incling to vista not working when I upgraded, and instead one saying that it DID work, that I can have my money back?

Fix it fast people, we can't stick with XP forever...

Thanks in advance for any CONSTRUCTIVE replies.

i got vista and it blows. thank god Retail works on MY Vista.
Yes, someone should look up so Vista is friendly with retail and extra points for openGL

Of course they are working on it, this has something to do with OpenGL emulation, because (to my knowledge) OpenGL system calls are emulated in Vista and converted to DirectX system calls. I could be wrong.

Maby you could just go back to XP (WAY better then vista) or get a Nvidia graphics card

This problem isn't worth spending any serious amount of money on. He will just have to wait.

Well I can be with XP easily but my work requires me to have Vista. Everything else works on Vista BUT Blockland, which I really do enjoy playing. And no, I'll not be buying a new card, kinda hard for a laptop too but I'm not wasting money just to play a game like this. For a next gen game maybe, but Blockland, no...

Thanks anyway for replies.

wtf what job requires vista?

Being up-to-date with todays lastest hardware/software. Thats my job :). Besides this I am also a programmer.

It's not blocklands fault about the graphics glitches. It's vista support for the graphics card, there's nothing Badspot can do.

so there will never be a update to help vista be friendly enough with retail?

Yes there will, full OpenGL support is in the works. ATI just hasn't finished creating a new piece of software, they have at least 100 cards to cover, and a new system to write them for.

It's nothing to do with blockland. It's because vista is new and the graphics card company's haven't released drivers that work properly with it.

i know blockland is not the problem but do you think bill gates will ever make Vista friendly with OpenGL?

Probably not, Bill Gates isn't the head of Microsoft anymore. OpenGL is emulated, which means that it works, but not in the same way that it did before. Microsoft provides DirectX with preferential treatment, as it is their API.

spend 50 bucks and get a good nivida graphics card.
