Author Topic: How school should be.  (Read 1198 times)

Ok, its time for me to vent. *deep breath*

Ok. I've almost had it with school right now. Tell me, how many professions will you use Biology in? or history? Lets count, shall we?
Bio: Biologist. Doctor, maybe.
History: Historian. <crickets>

and maybe a couple "fun facts!!" you could have up your sleeve to impress nobody.

Honestly, I feel that I'm being forced to take classes that are legitimately worthless when it comes to my career. I think that instead of wasting our time learning about things that we will never once again use in our lifetime (except math, that is understandable.), how about we have the ability to choose what we take (yes I know about electives...), so that we are actually usefully spending time at school instead of gawking at the whiteboard like an imbecile. I think we'd have a better society if people could choose what they want to do in school instead of being forced to take classes that serve no purpose in their career.

did you just say that you will never use ela
also they teach you things like history so you're not an oblivious forget who has no idea how you got here

Read Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and then you'll see what the world would be like without English classes or books.

there would be robotic dogs chasing people who read books

yes that is our future

I have read that, you kinda have a point there....

No, there would be a very different world where people take offense at literature because they know nothing about it and the idea of logic will be shunned in favor of mindless entertainment.

English- author

And any job that you have to write anything. As in, most jobs.

..what.

ela = english language arts, english, same thing. you need it to read numbers, too.

English is used in almost everything you dumbo.
And biology is used in everything to do with living things.
History is meh but usually not forced in most schools when you get to the age of being able to pick your subjects.

biology and history are kinda meh, although it's nice to gain an understanding of the world and being able to connect it with things

english is vital. completely vital.

Yeah let's remove all the non-major courses because they might not be vital towards a possible career choice of ONE PERSON!

What was referred to "off the top of your head" sounds more like "straight out of your ass".

I'm pretty sure historians, doctors, and authors have more important things to do than teach abunch of unwilling high schoolers.

misunderstood OP lol

Bio: Biologist. Doctor, maybe. Vet, biomedical engineer, medical researcher, etc., not to mention that without the study of biology we wouldn't have found the cures to many diseases.
English: author. Along with any career field that requires reading and being able to write intelligible sentences.
History: Historian. If we do not learn from past mistakes, we are doomed to repeat them.
Also, without learning all the different subjects, how would we know which ones we hate and which ones we like?

English is used for everything.
History, I can kinda understand that, as it's not absolutely vital, but it's still rather important.
Bio is useful for a lot of things, including getting into a medical career, and not loving up horribly when there's an accident and you don't understand how to loving take care of it when red liquid begins spilling out.
