A half-decent firewall can block a DDoS attack. These are supposedly the 13 magical DNS servers of the world, how do you expect to screw with them with the lowest level of "hacking" there is?

Most important point: These servers probably receive jillions of pings a second from everyone in the entire world who happens to be looking for a web address, it's laughable that someone thinks they can shut them down with more pings. Apparently they don't, but I wouldn't be surprised if they could handle it.

The way the attack is set up uses different IPs to flood attacks, it's not a normal DDoS attack. It uses IP Spoofing.

This is completely possible and provided enough supporters, will happen. The people who design these attacks aren't handicaps.

This is utterly stupid. I doubt everyone buys a bunch of games and all in a month. I doubt there will be a "gaping hole" in any economy besides any that already have one. Media isn't the only thing that you spend money on.

It's also funny because assuming whoever anonymous is can actually pull this off, a lot of other small honest businesses will suffer. It may be only a day, but bills have to be paid by the employees of those businesses, and that's a 6% or so cut in their paycheck approximately (or whatever 1/15 approximates out to)
