I would only ever buy a new one if it has both circle pads and ZL/ZR buttons, and my first one broke.
Although, XL systems stretched the pixels with the DS. If this remains the same, I would never buy one.

I don't think they'll make a 3DS Lite. The normal 3DS model is already the size of the DS Lite, making it smaller would be incredibly awkward. Like the GBA Micro.

They should make it you can UPGRADE your 3DS to a XL at the stores.

EDIT: Plus i called it.

Wouldn't be surprised if GameStop decides to allow trading a 3DS/i XL towards a 3DS XL for at least 60% off.
