Author Topic: Why are almost Half of the adons Guns?  (Read 1449 times)

Can't they be a little more...
Creative?

And don't go "Deal with it"

because they're easy to make and appeal to a lot of people

I download about 1% of all the gun addons i see.

Its like "yeah look at this and it has a cool model and shoots a lot"
Just like all the others.

I would have to say that there is an overwhelming amount of weapon add-ons. Most of which are poorly made or simply don't work properly due to an overload of unnecessary gimmicks (i.e. hands, reloading, complex and draw out animations and a combination of the above).

So, we need guns but more specifically guns that function correctly and aren't stuffed full of stupid gimmicks and actually have some sort of creative background instead of "modern weapon pack #1234" or "fancy future weapon pack with 99% more pointlessly unbalanced lasers with pointlessly detailed weapon models)

Another thing we need is for modders to tone down the detail in their gun models. or more or less, actually have them look appropriate in a blockhead's possession.

I like the default gun, the magnum, the sniper rifle, and the Ryno. T+T and such is okay, but I just don't like it.

People rarely make guns that actually fit Blockland's style anymore. Guns with finite ammo that have to be reloaded from time to time just don't fit properly, even if the model is simple.

I wish Ephi would be more strict about guns on RTB, but that would probably take a lot of time if he'd have to test the guns before letting them on.

Would be cool if there was a group of testers who tested the add-ons, and then they voted if it should go on or not.

I would be interested to volunteer.

I don't think that it would be a good idea to involve the Blockland community in anything.

Agreed. I much preferred it when the gun models were simple and had infinite ammo. I guess that people started making more detailed models to try to e more creative, but to me it isn't really working.

I guess

*puts on shades*

Blockland is violent

YEAHHH

Even I didnt understand it

because about 90% of our addon makers really suck.

Easier to make:
-Easier to think of another type of gun, rather than a completely new feature
-Only requires a model or two and some value changes
-Minimal scripting needed

Appeals to the crowd:
-Many people download whatever guns they find that they like
-When they have a DM/TDM all built and set up, they will look for guns to put in it, not a script that makes bridges

Good for variety:
-We don't need 5 different RTBs, but there's nothing wrong with 5 different shotguns

bricks are soon going to become the next big thing. everyones going to start releasing bricks for every little thing and it's already started.
