Port's Borg Assimilation






About
This is a custom-made game-mode which is independent of TDM or Slayer. It's on a primarily greyscale map with explosive barrels, weapon pickups and intertwined tunnels. The server is using Tier+Tactical 2.1 weapons with ammunition drops enabled. Also, this server runs 24/7.

More about the objective of the game-mode:
At the start of the game, everyone is turned into a human player with a Pistol.
Then, a specific number of players are randomly selected to become Borgs. They will have their weapons cleared, their movement abilities increased and their field of vision increased slightly.

If you are a human, kill all Borgs to win.
If you are a Borg, assimilate all humans to win.

Assimilation is a process that a Borg can start if they click their jet button (default: right-click) while they are within 2 studs of a human. Both players will spectate the human, the human will appear to be sitting down and an "alarm" sound is played. After 2.3 seconds, control will be given back to both players and the human is now a Borg.

If the Borg is killed or pushed away from the human before the process is finished, the human is saved.

Methods of identifying Borgs:
  • Their face appears to have a "robotic implant" on it.
  • They move fast.
  • Generally acting suspicious.
  • Borgs cannot hold weapons. While a human could decide not to hold a weapon, it is in most cases a Borg.

FAQ
"I joined but there doesn't appear to be any game going on!"
The game will not start until there are at minimum two players on the server.

"How is the amount of starting Borgs determined?"
For every six players, the game will start with one Borg, with a minimum of 1 Borg.
A more technical answer: borg count = max(1, floor(player count / 6))

use a zombie playertype for the borgs? Possibly use the /hug command to identify that they're borgs

I suggest making some other maps, and maybe switch them now and then.

Feel free to contribute a build. Requirements are T+T2.1 weapon spawns, interactive map objects (explosives, etc), default colorset and default bricks.

This game has been around forever.  Same idea, same build, but updated T+T weapons.

Port isn't Bauklotz/Flaw, DontCare4Free is.

Easy to confuse; they fall into the same category when I think of them.

If I remember correctly DC4F/Nullable/Flaw/Bauklotz/Tickle was also involved in this server.  Don't know if he actually helped code it but I remember him being admin/active on the server.  Did a search of Port's ID and it seems like he's Fluff-is-back... not as bad as Tickle but whatever.

Nope. Flaw made me get BL, but that was long before he got banned.
