Author Topic: Joining a certain server  (Read 480 times)

I recently encountered a strange problem. I doubt anyone here can fix it, but I posted it nonetheless.

My friend just started playing BL again, after about 2 years of inactivity. He wanted me to help him work on a build together. However, he can't join my server, and I can't join his.

The strange part is that other people can join both of our servers. We live on the same street, I'm not sure if that affects anything. We tried connecting straight to the IPs, disabling and enabling UPnP, and even port forwarding.

Can anyone provide some insight into this?

noedit: Also, it's most likely my fault. He has administrator privileges on his computer, I don not and therefore have not had a chance to closely inspect the firewall and other et cetera.

Can the two of you join other servers?

Can the two of you join other servers?
That's another quirk.
I can join some servers, but not others. I don't think it has always been this way for me, but I can't say for sure. Same scenario for those that I cannot join; they are perfectly valid servers with other people on them.

This is probably related.

I have the same problem. Only about 10 server have ping for me, and to connect to the ones with the --- I have to hit a join a server, hit cancel, then join it again.

And tell me this, when you connect, does it just say Connecting to IP: (IP), then nothing else?? If so, it does this to me too.

It goes
ike this:
Connecting to IP 192blabla...
Starting arranged connection...
Sending challenge request...
Sending punch packet...
Sending punch packet...
Sending punch packet...

JOIN

Maybe its your NAT settings...or is that only for consoles?
