Author Topic: What's better for losing weight, running or a brisk walk?  (Read 1304 times)

As some of you may know already, I'm overweight. I've been meaning to lose this weight for a while now, but those twinkies are damn good and I'm trying to by running. I believe that running would be better, it improves the strength in my gimp leg and also makes me burn calories well (once all those blasted carbohydrates are gone, that is). My mom, however, says that a brisk walk for twice or more the distance would be better. What do you think is better, Blockland forums?

Just do both? Run until you can't, then walk it out.

Don't take Superbot's advice, for one.

Running is bad for your back~

The afterburn effect, Look it up. Really its just short intense calorie burning workouts then rest for half the time. I had a whole paragraph on this but my comp forgeted up. Crunches and situps take literally MONTHS AND MONTHS to even years to get a flat stomach or abs. So dont do them (UNTILL WANTING TO BUILD MUSCLE, BUT USE ATLEAST 50 POUNDS OF ADDED WEIGHT TO MAKE IT MORE EFFECTIVE). Workouts you CAN do for one minute, then rest for thirty seconds(Take close attention to atleast 2:1 ratio) Burpees, jump rope, and jumping jacks are all things you can do. Do make it more of a workout I suggest atleast 25 pound weights on each arm for burpees but thats just me. Do this and mix it up for around 10 to 30 minutes. If you can even do this evey day you can see results. But if this doesn't work, your doing it wrong. you will burn calories twice as fast, for 48 hours even asleep. But remember to eat right. This is it in a really cramped nutshell so I suggest you looking it up. You must have 100% devotion to this though.

Been there, done that, didn't work.

I'm asking which one is better for losing weight. Besides, just telling me that running isn't the fastest won't help very much...

Done that, too. People crowded around me and clawed at my face for some reason...

Thanks for that, BBOY.

Running tends to be bad for your back when you have back problems to begin with.

Every day for 3 months I ate nothing but a small dinner and sprinted all P.E. hour.
I lost weight but it wasn't healthy.

You would've lost more if you fed yourself properly because starving yourself isn't the way to lose weight.

Jogging or even walking is fine if you do it often enough, but your eating habits must not be ignored. I only have dessert items maybe once or twice a week, not counting what my sister randomly gives me. However, if you have a good running/jogging destination, don't hesitate.
