The zero dimension is a infinitely small dot
The first dimension is a line
The second dimension is a plane
The third dimension is an object with depth as well as height and width
The fourth dimension is where stuff hits the fan
10th dimension is when all hope is lost.

the fourth dimension is where a certain three dimensional object is at a certain time, the fourth dimension IS time.

for say, if we had a cube on all of our desks, one half of it was in the third, one half of it was in the fourth.

we would only see half of it at any certain given time.

Scientists predict that this is how time travel is possible.

Holy crap, I suddenly understand this again. Yes, again. A few months back I remember someone posting a video perfectly explaining the fourth dimension. Basically, in the fourth dimension, objects are viewed from every angle at the same time. It would be great if someone could find and post this video again.

I was thinking of the fifth dimension, instead, I found this in another topic. Still looking for that video, in the meantime:

The fourth dimension

This is experienced every day, but only one place at a time.  Just as a 2d object is just one cross-section of a 3d object, the 3d object is just one point of a 4d object.

If we dropped a cube onto another object, we will see it move.  In the fourth dimension, we could see any part of this movement at will.  Just as we can see any point along the height of a pole, we could see any point in space at any point in time.  However, we would only see the future in a single way, as a pre-determined pathway without:

The fifth dimension

Just like the fourth dimension deals with points along a timeline, the third dimension deals with points along a third vector, the second dimension deals with points along a second vector and so on; the fifth dimension deals with points along many different timelines.
If you could see five dimensions of a certain physical point, not only could you see the height, width, depth and timeline of it, but you could also see every possible situation that point could have been in.  If this is hard to understand, try this:

Let's take a point on Earth, next to a beautiful lake.  Now, we could see the Earth spin under this point along the timeline in the fourth dimension, from the time this point existed to the point it stopped existing.  If we saw the same point in the same time, but in the fifth dimension, we could see any possible configuration of this scenery.  Instead of this beautiful lake, perhaps Earth formed an identical lake out of lava instead, and Earth is a barren mess of volcanic activity.  Or, perhaps, the lake was two centimeters deeper than the one we saw.

Here is the video explaining the fourth dimension, it should help.

You do realize that its SPINNING right? And youre not just thinking that its a small box being pushed out of a bigger box.
yes it is spinning I know that, that's what the other guy said
is it just like
like a wire render of a model?
is it actually supposed to be solid?
because if so then it is pretty not understandable at all
It would be great if someone could find and post this video again.
is it either of these?

oh nevermind, you found it I guess

Still going to watch the videos you linked, I just friggen love science and understanding concepts.

Who wants to help me fight the mighty cheezeburger giant monkey man from the 8th dimension?

I'm in a stage adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time.

If you think this stuff is interesting, that show/book is all about these beings who can tesseract through dimensions, and a basic adventure that these entities have along with human characters.

if you watch Cube, you'll know everything about tesseracts.

2 dimensional is possible with the wonders of the Mobius Strip.

1 face != 2 dimensions

OP is wrong
4th dimension is points on a linear timeline
6th dimension relates to multiple points or timelines
5th dimension is a fantastic soul band

StringM-theory states that there are 11 dimensions.

How in the singularity of forget
It is double rotating.

This is simple rotation.

From what I know, the hypercube is a basic cube in the fourth dimension rotating. It's just that in the fourth dimension, all points are visible.

I will never understand the 4th dimension.
as stephen hawking has said, it's pretty tough to imagine things in four or more dimensions.
also 10th dimension = you are now learning about p-branes

The fourth isn't time you twat, it's so much more complicated than saying it's "Time"
