Author Topic: Windows 7 - Two of my USB Ports Aren't Recognized  (Read 790 times)

For example, I could plug in my mouse on the left side (where the USB ports that aren't being recognized are) and it would not be detected by Windows, but when I plug it into the side with the working USB ports then it would work fine.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Your computer USB ports are broken or something, buy a USB Hub.

His other USBs work, this won't help.

that would work in some cases, because the device manager would be able to see how many USB ports are functioning.

he may just be mising drivers for some ports because a lot of computers that i see these days use multiple versions of USB ports.

Now I understand.

It's not broken, I literally bought it yesterday.  I reinstalled Windows 7 and the drivers because of all the damn bloatware.
So you found the problem?

ive had this before, dont worry its easy to fix
it involves deleting the usb drivers
ill post more info when i get back from school

Could also be a hardware issue. I had a faulty A8N-VM CSM motherboard that had only 2 working USB ports. The other 2 at the back didn't work and neither did the front panel ones, out of an internal header.
First things first, try turning off your computer and unplugging it for at least 5 minutes. Then, take out the battery on the motherboard (it's a small flat one), then put it back in after a little while. Remember to ground yourself on either the case or the power supply housing while doing this.
This might fix it, report back if it doesn't.

Check if the USB cables on your case are still connected to the system panel on the motherboard.

Stopped reading right there.

It's not, I already said that two posts above your post.  The USB ports work in Ubuntu and generally any other Linux distro.

Look for drivers for your PC model. Essentially motherboard ones.

Nope, you didn't say that already. You said you reinstalled Windows 7. Sort it out on your own if you're gonna be rude.
