Author Topic: Japanese Animations vs American Animations in a nutshell  (Read 2510 times)

It's simply different styles.

The only difference I noticed was that, in the North American cartoon style, you could actually tell the difference between each race, where as in the Japanese cartoon style, everyone looks pretty much the loving same. At least in these two images.
Lol this.

Japan seems to only be able to make cutesie, big eyed bullstuff with lazy mouth animation. The visual styling is appealing, but as I whole, I cant stand Japanese Animation.

Yeah. A lot of manga doesn't acknowledge many other races. But I've seen some different races in manga/anime before.

Quote from: some website I found
The majority of anime artwork comes from Japan, which is a fairly homogeneous country. It goes without saying that it's unusual to see anyone of African, Hispanic, or even Caucasian descent portrayed in anime, because it would be unusual to see a these types of people walking around Japan. Due to this lack of exposure to diversity, and the difficulty presented in portraying ethic characters; race and ethnicity are generally overlooked in the highly stylized world of anime and manga, with few exceptions. As an exception, the anime Cowboy Bebop comes to mind, where characters of all racial background and ethnic cultures are constantly shown onscreen.

Like I said before. Not all anime/manga is like:

Cutesy cartoony styles are simply more common. There's realistic styles out there, like really realistic, but they're rare and you kind of need to search for them.

I don't mind anime as long as it isn't handicapped like white hair red eyes for a regular human being.

Only anime I watch is Fist of the North Star. Mainly because it involves a form of martial arts based on making other people explode by punching them hard enough.

forget that stupid "KWAI DESU" garbage. It's infuriating. It ALWAYS looks the same. Not mostly, ALWAYS.

albino kawai desu yo!

Anyways, I found one picture showing off some various manga/anime styles

Of course there's thousands more styles. I found a picture before that had like 30 different styles on it, I'll have to search for it, though.

When I saw this thread, I instantly thought of this:

This makes me crack up.

Anime is such an overused and overestimated drawing style in cartoons so it's not like it's doing any good.

I'd appreciate if people started learning how to draw cartoon-like characters instead of anime all the time. It's a crutch.
this
also the OP's point is invalid because he used one of the ugliest cartoons of all time

The show is still ammusing.

This makes me crack up.

Hank and Bill look so kawai in that picture~!

And he used only one or two styles of manga.

I wish I could find that picture that had all those styles in it. :c

American looks bad because you only compared it to king of the hill.

American dad is superior.

American looks bad because you only compared it to king of the hill.
this.
america has some great animation.
anime is so goddamn overdone I'm so sick of it aaaaaaaaa

Gah, I can't find that pic.

But I'll just say this:

America has good and bad cartoons, and some look very different from one another.

Japan has good and bad cartoons, and some look very different from one another.

See any difference? No.

Plus, you're taking one American cartoon style and comparing to a very different manga style.

It would be fine if you took a realistic/normal looking cartoon and compared it to a realistic manga/anime. But you took an extremely cartoony anime and compared it to King of the Hill.

People need to learn to acknowledge that there are more than just one style of manga/anime, same goes for American cartoon styles. :/

Both fans and non-fans.
