Author Topic: What happens if the IDs run out?  (Read 4781 times)

When that happens, Badspot will divide pi by zero and the world will end. Nuff said.

The last key would be ZZZZZ-, not 99999-. Nevermind, it would be 99999-, actually. They use a ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ012 3456789 index.
Maybe he'll start using symbols.

keys will probably be moved back
like blid 100 may become blid 2.
1337 may become available.
etc...

That only opens up for 98 more users, and increasing the maximum integer length would be much easier than changing the key algorithm

I just wish it would happen without needing almost a million people buying the game.

To skip off this money/pi crap... wouldn't it be possible for him to resort the excess BLIDs to begin going negative.  I know that people have already hacked their id's to be negative though so....

no they haven't

Blockland Keys start with 5 characters. This is a conversion of the actual ID number. The rest is randomized, so you're safe. All IDs right now start with like AAA I believe. Maybe just AA. That's because once converted, not all 5 characters are filled, defaulting to A. The problem we are talking about is the key's maximum, not the ID number. The ID number we are giving is when the key's max is hit - 99999. Changing the ID number has nothing to do with fixing the key problem, stop talking about ID fixes.

Did I explain that well enough?

I have extreme pride in my binary ID <3

I have extreme pride in my binary ID <3

Same <3

But mine doesn't translate into anything .__.

mine translates to 20 I believe.

1337 is used by autobridge.

yeah... no

No one has ID 1337. Therefore, Truce thought it logical to attribute the owner ID of Auto-bridge bricks as 1337. No one would ever join with it, so you couldn't destroy them. Only the server could, would avoid errors with missing bricks. Not like he couldn't work around those.
