Author Topic: What's the appeal to MLP?  (Read 9652 times)

I can't explain the feeling

I can't explain the feeling
they always say it's for "special/unknown reasons", which leads to some interesting guesswork.

Well, then, since you guys are being pretty much all absolute loving handicaps right now, and completely ignore the OP's question just so you can have your loving queer little fight, I'll answer his question.

Most of the Brony community watches the show because we find it to be rather adorable, and we [mostly] enjoy adorable things like such. The show also has fairly good character development for a 7 year old girl's show, and is quite interesting to watch and attempt to identify references to other things, which are shown very often.

And the other like 15% of the community... we don't talk about them. They watch the show "for the plot" and find cartoon ponies to be loveually attractive. They are made up of primarily trolls, perverts, and others of the sort. They also make about 90% of all research involving MLP, which is something I do hope you shall never have to see.

 But yeah, there you go.

Okay fine this

I like MLP because the characters are violently adorable, and I love the art direction. Most of the community is also a blast to be around.

Now, I DO agree that the plotlines could use a bit of thickening

I will say that there'd NEVER be an Anti-MLP topic because bronies would rush in and forget it over, granted that Anti-Bronies forget over the MLP topic from what I've heard. Plus, the "It's okay to not like things, but don't be a richard about it" argument can work for the Anti-Bronies too. "It's okay like things, but don't be a richard about it".

To be honest, I hate the show, but I keep to myself about it unless something like this comes up.

You're getting your butthurt in my ponies.

i think it's weird when people feel the need to smear their interests over other people's interests. you like your minecraft server? pony pixel art. you like your blockland server? pony statues. you like your school bathroom mirror? crayon snake.

I actually cannot think of any reasons why an older male would like MLP. :\

But then again, they only like G4, and G4 is made by Lauren Faust. Which is cool, but not enough to obsess over it, like some of them do.

But I like all the generations. Hell, I even think G1 is better than G4.

And, I actually am starting dislike bronies (because hating on everything but G4, pony research, etc). But even then, I'll always try to be a part of the fandom. But only the sane side.

Not that I'm saying that all bronies are like that, but some of them are. And it creeps me out. Still, there's nothing wrong with just liking the show.

Not to say this is never happened with anything else before. I can't stand most anime, for example, but I just ignore it and bottle up my rage.

g4 is basically my childhood. it was my videogame media before i found out that i could watch things that weren't made by people who don't know what they are talking about.

but most of them are.
maybe most of the sane ones who probably actually make up the majority aren't out and about in the fandom and just want to be silent because they don't want to be judged alongside the jackasses?

I can respect G1 and G2, although I don't want to watch them, but G3 is AWFUL.

JUST AWFUL

maybe most of the sane ones who probably actually make up the majority aren't out and about in the fandom and just want to be silent because they don't want to be judged alongside the jackasses?
And this is the fallacy of all fandoms. The loud forgeted-up people are automatically more popularized than the normal half.

What? G4 was made less than 2 years ago.

Unless you mean one of the other gens.

Calm your rage. I said most not all.
