No. I'm not asking you to do my homework. This is stuff I should already know but forget me I don't remember it anymore. Okay then.

I know the very basic stuff for example solving Y when Z and X are known. Sine, cosine, and tangent. Piece of cake.

My problem is this: How do I solve X when Y and a are known? What is the name of the function or something?

you use tan

X = Y * tan(a)

this is really basic lol

problem is, I don't remember it either :x

Oh. Wait. Then how do you solve X when Y and Z are known?

Oh. Wait. Then how do you solve X when Y and Z are known?

X = Sqrt(Z² - Y²)

tangent
remember the functions like this
SOH
CAH
TOA

Sin = opp/hyp
Cos = adj/hyp
Tan = opp/adj

X is the opposite angle from a, and Y is the adjacent. So you could set it up like this:
Tan (a) = X/Y

tangent
remember the functions like this
SOH
CAH
TOA

Sin = opp/hyp
Cos = adj/hyp
Tan = opp/adj

X is the opposite angle from a, and Y is the adjacent. So you could set it up like this:
Tan (a) = X/Y

Beat me to it

Oh yeah. Now I remember it. Thanks guys.

Teach me how to math. I'm in Algebra 1 honors.
