Would time travel technically cancel itself out? I mean.. Say you dropped a very expensive vase, you want to travel back in time to stop yourself from dropping it. Therefor you have never dropped it causing you to not travel back in time to stop yourself from dropping it. So why need to time travel? If you time traveled you'd be stuck in a loop... kind of like some sort of paradox... can anyone else come up with time travel flaws besides the fact that if it exists in the future why has no one come back in time to re-invent it?

They have the matrix is real man its crazy

I think that the idea is that once you've fixed dropping the vase, you've already gone back, but you never will, so you're good to go, because time is linear.

you might as well be high

Even if time is linear it would still cause some sort of looping effect....

If you really wanna forget with your mind read
This
It's on Wikipedia and once I read it I serriosly cannot think about time travel or else I start to cry...
It's forgeted up man.
It's forgeted up.

Paradoxes can be solved if you use the multiple timeline model.

However, time loops to try and prevent paradoxes will ultimately create infinite timelines, assuming the loop is an actual loop. So they're only really safe on a predetermined timeline.

it would be less strain on the universe to just offshoot a timeline branch in another direction from when you changed things.

Philadelphia Experiment.

Pretty much.
So you dropped that vase, and you go back in time.
In the process, you have just bent the 4th dimension, time, by  use the 5th dimension
Now say you want to get to the future where you didn't drop the vase, but sold it.
You bend the 5th dimension, the possibilities of your future, by using the 6th dimension.

Don't ask, I got lost at the 7th/8th

So your not just going back in the 4th dimension, but also in the 5th and 6th ones.

I hate the argument posted in the op.
Just because nobody has announced that they have come back in time from the future, which is false to say because the people that have and truly believe that they are from the future are thrown into asylums, doesn't mean that nobody has come back.
People with access to time travel would be smart enough not to try and change time in such a way as creating time travel earlier on.

And people assume that people would want to come to this planet at this time if they had a time machine. We are far far far off from any sort of time travel device, hell most scientists believe it's impossible. There is so much potential for great moments in the history that has yet to come that it is possible that events of the future completely overshadow events of the past/present, making people in the very distant future not give a forget about the events that we would think it cool to travel back to.

if you went back in time wouldn't you be in space because the earth would have moved back to where it was before

if you went back in time wouldn't you be in space because the earth would have moved back to where it was before
This makes abosuletly no sense in any context whatsoever.
If the Earth moved backwards in time to its resting position that you traveled to then how in the world would you be in space?

You can only go into the future
