are you only now thinking of this
this is like goddamn time travel theoryorwhateveridontevenlovi ngknow #1

I thought of this a while ago.... Its just I never stop thinking about it. Another thing I cant stop thinking about is teleportation and if you teleport into a wall does a chunk of the wall get taken our or do you split in half from the area that you teleported into... I have alot of sci-fi crap in mind.

I think that it works kinda like this:
If you go back in time, do something to change the future, then go back to the future, you would be in a different "time line" than you were before you went back in time.

So say your world your living in right now is very happy and everything is good. Then you go back in time and do something like kill a person that was very important to making your world good. You go back to the future and it would probably be a post-nuclear war or something along the lines.

But then, could you go back in time again and stop yourself from doing what you did to keep the timeline on track?

This makes abosuletly no sense in any context whatsoever.
If the Earth moved backwards in time to its resting position that you traveled to then how in the world would you be in space?
well your body wouldn't have moved so it would still be at the same position when you were in the present

well your body wouldn't have moved so it would still be at the same position when you were in the present
But if you can travel through time so effortlessly, then space shouldn't be a problem.

Holy stuff, he's right.
You would also have to develop teleportation in order to end up where you want.

Well you just make a thingy on the time travel device that saves your current spot on earth at that time and then when you travel thought time it will put you at that spot on earth when you travel.

Or just make it only be able to travel back in time at year intervals.

Your all looking at this completely wrong,
You believe that going back in time also means you can go forward in time.
If you travel backwards in time, then the technology to travel through time is now gone,
There is no way back.

Also:
Why would anyone want to go BACK in time?
Yeah sure, you could fix a couple mistakes and relive life for a second time.
But why wouldn't you go forward?
You know?
See all the things that you never even thought of before.

Holy stuff, he's right.
You would also have to develop teleportation in order to end up where you want.
What do you mean?
This makes no sense in any form of literation.
If you travel back in time, then the Earth is in its old position.  The Earth wouldn't simply stay and everything else move.

The Earth wouldn't simply stay and everything else move.
That's the whole point. When you are moving through time, you are stagnant in space, the Earth will be moving.

Well to fix that just make it so that you can only travel thought time in yearly intervals. So if you wanted to go to April 3rd, 1940, you would have to active the time machine on the 3rd of April on any other year.

Except for: The solar system has an obit in the galaxy, and the galaxy may have an obit in the entire universe, which may be expanding.

There is a lot more motion than just Earth.

The earth doesn't travel in a perfect orbit though, you might get stuck underground, or in the sky, you would need to predict the exact point the earth would be at the time you would be traveling

not to mention the sun's movement through the galaxy, and the galaxy's movement through the universe, and universal expansion...

beat me to it :(

spoiler: black holes are the remnants of civilizations who have achieved light speed

I thought they where the aftermath of a sun-actually no. That theory is much more entertaining.

yes your doing it right now.

and no you can't go back in time, otherwise in every moment of time every possible thing will happen at any time. think about it.

because eventually, some idoit somewhere will decide, "i'm going back in time with five hundred cherrys" then suddenly you'll have five hundred cherries at any moment in time. and this will repeat with every person, in every way, in every for every circumstance imaginable.

why? because there is time, enough time for everything to happen

this implies, slightly loop-holeishly, that there is infinite time which contradicts itself because time is how we measure how things don't exist forever

so no, time travel is not possible
