Anyways, To backtrack, I think a furry topic is nessisary on the grounds of the bowl of water anology, without the bowl, the water is free to messy up the rest of the counter and any appliances or objects on said counter.

Then ignore it, trolls will continue to be trolls, there is nothing anyone can do but just ignore them. If a gaggle of trolls is all it takes to stop a topic from working, then the MLP topic would have been dead for the longest time.

Also, enlighten me, as I do not usually partake in forum activities (Recently my boredom has pushed me to do so.) What is this "Forum war."
