Author Topic: The water in the default ocean slates is 15x high.  (Read 1041 times)

Why is that? That doesn't even make sense!

Because the person who made it likes the number 15

Because we didn't have cubes in v8 so the person who made slate ocean didn't make it compatible for cubes because he just couldn't!

That is acceptable.

It needs to be revised though.

That would ruin a lot of builds. We have slate water maps that are compatible with cubes anyways.

You're stuck in the past I think.

Irrelevant, Ladios made the map in V8 and I doubt he knew about cubes at the time.

Maybe using three 1x5x5 bricks stacked...? It's all I could think of.

Too bad Tony wasn't talking about how great v8 was, and actually provided an explanation. Nice try though. Keep it up, you'll be able to count to potato by tomorrow.

download mission editor, F11, grab and drag water higher or lower

I don't really see a problem. It's one plate lower than a 16x cube, which would make it to where water doesn't go over the brick you are building on.

Exactly what I was going to say. I say 15x is perfect, leaves just enough room for the brick and water to not asfsa on the top face.

It's fine as is. What's the point of changing it now?

The water in the Default Ocean is 3 5tall blocks tall. I chose this height to allow room for ships to extend under the surface and I felt that was sufficient. Cube bricks did not exist in that time.

and actually most of my builds I elevate to 3 5tall blocks so it worked for my purposes as well.

Given the recent shaders day/night video I have reason to believe the nature of slate will change as well, such that any maps made will be obsolete for that as well. Thus rendering mappers to people who figure out good atmospheric combinations and sky boxes for epic builds. Also making bricks and stuff but I dunno what other people are planning, but I have my own things in the works.
