So I'll need to go out and buy a copy of windows 7?

lol you're missing out I just got my new windows and am having a blast.
My dad makes all the computer-related decisions, so I'm never going to get Windows until like....

... 10 years or more from now. He says Windows always gets viruses, and thus I can't use Windows. Those are not my words, they're his, and I can't change his mind about it.

I agree that Steam for Mac is still not as stable as the Windows edition (derp) but if the game you own is supported on the Mac then consider it fine. Steam for Mac isn't so unstable that support games don't work. It should be okay.

I grew up on Windows computers, used Mac at school and owned a few Macs, then owned a few PC laptops. So my entire history of computing has been a constant cross-weave of OSX and Windows and I have no particular bias towards either anymore. I use both daily. This has also allowed me to learn a heap about cross compatibility, so I'll stick around in this topic and help in any way I can. Feel free to PM me as well.

Thank you

Thank you

Btw, most of the biggest Steam games are available on Mac.

If you want a Windows dealio, Bootcamp is really easy to set up and it's in your Utilities folder I think. There's another free program called VirtualBox that simulates Windows well but you don't have to reboot to get into it which is nice. If you don't mind rebooting though, Bootcamp is your best option, it's seamlessly a windows computer once you have drivers installed.

Yes.

Virtualbox and VMware don't tend to handle games very well, in my experience.

I'd say use bootcamp for games.

Don't use a virtual pc for games.  One powerful enough will be way too slow to use.

I'd say use bootcamp for games.

Just be sure you've allocated enough power to the Windows partition.

I posted the kind of computer I got in the OP

Damn son. That's a great computer. For future reference, I recommend you buy refurbished.

Better processor, and cheaper. And refurbished computers are given a detailed system test and optimization before shipping because they're refurbished obviously. Buying straight from Apple, unused, means it's pulled out of a warehouse with minimal testing, and it's sent out to you.

I was talking to Cmen and they said the cooler might be laptop grade.

Also its the 1600 dollar computer not the 2000

Well you could still get a 200 dollar discount on that iMac with the refurbed model.

Congrats. You now have an overpriced pc.
But the OS is OK.
