I remember watching the original avatar as a kid. I tried rewatching it in celebration of the new season, but I realized I didn't like it anymore because everyone talks too grandiose for my liking.

Do they ever tone it down? or does it stay like that for the whole series?

it gets a little better in season 3.

Legend of Korra has alot better writing than Last Air Bender. Its less "talk about the current situation randomly."
