Author Topic: So I found these weights.  (Read 1574 times)

The #1 thing you need to accept is that it is going to be hard work, you are going to want to stop and it is going to take a long, long time. It is inescapable, whats done is done and you are at where you are now you just need to make sure you have enough spirit and motivation to stick to a good schedule even if it takes years.

Also on the subject of bike riding i found it very helpful for my legs, i lived about 7km from my school and would walk home every day but apart from being boring it did nothing, when i finally got a bike it took about 2 weeks to put enough muscle on my legs to show easily without any tensing.

Also it will be helpful for you to know what kind of body you have, i can't remember the names for the different types but I am the kind where it is difficult to lose weight but i put on muscle very easily.

Well what are you weighting for?? Start working out!

I see what you did there

Double post: Remember Obesity and cardiovascular disease are one of the top killers of america.

I need the mussel to do those exercises. After all, I weigh in at ~230.
no you don't?

anyone can do any of those exercises.
can't do man pushups? start on your knees until you can.
can't do situps? do decline situps (start at the end position of a normal situp, and go backwards down to the floor while tensing your abs)
can't do chinups? do decline chinups (start at the end position of a normal chinup and lower yourself while tensing your arms)
and squats anyone can do

I don't know the science behind it, but I would think it would make more sense for him to lose some weight first by running/biking and changing his diet. I don't think it's very useful to try to get in shape by just doing pansyups.

Although you could  be right, I'm not 100% sure.

Too sick to do any of this, but I have a trampoline. Two of them, actually.

by all means he should be doing cardio and all that too

my point is that hardly anybody has an excuse not to be in shape. body weight training makes a great start.

I see.

One thing I would point out though, there are better core workouts he could do then just situps. Situps just give you beach body abs and don't really give you anything to work with. Planks, side planks, and a number of other ab workouts would be better.

nothing wrong with isolating the abs to start off with, and that's exactly what situps do. get the basics down pat before diversifying (plus who doesn't want beach body abs?)

Reminded me of this-

Not like he is going to see any abs until he loses weight, the main point is effective exercises.

Wow his loving leg is huge. It has to be huge just to support over 500 pounds of steel.

The person who made that motivational poster probably doesn't have muscles though.

I see a faint outline of a leg in both pictures.
Hmmmmmmm Quite suspicious.

Jonti Wilson.

Thanks for all the advice and support guys. I'll tell you my starting weight and all that stuff in the morning. Also, something I failed to mention, there is a swimming pool at the clubhouse. Is swimming a good idea for all over exercise?
