Author Topic: Why can't you resize bricks like in Roblox?  (Read 7322 times)

The reason blockland bricks don't resize is because they are simplified and far more efficient, but lose some of that functionality.  Roblox bricks are probably alot more like vehicles in blockland, able to be resized and affected by server-sided physics.  Someone could make blockland very similar to roblox by making a brickpack where each brick was actually a vehicle.  In other words: broken as forget.

It was hell having to record all the bricks blockland has to make my BL converter half decent.
Even then, there are thousands of custom bricks I don't have :P
Atleast it works to an extent

A guy named HatHelper on Roblox claimed he made a converter that converts BL bricks into Roblox bricks. Whats funny about this is if you try and load the city on Roblox it stops responding several times before it loads all of the bricks, and then it responds. On Blockland...it loads in 10 seconds lol.

Yeah that HatHelper would be me.
Finally got another key for my birthday. Didn't want to use "HatHelper" as my username.

Blockland has some good pros, but so does roblox.
Sure I can't even load the city in online mode, but I can view 10k bricks with the same amount of lag as viewing 25k bl bricks.

Yes, but isn't it kinda unnecessarily difficult this way? It also increases the brick count a ton.
thats when you learn to make your own bricks or go back to stupid roblox...

o u so cool bro

For a second when I saw those screenshots I thought the new update had been released and you were viewing those builds with shaders. Had to do a serious double take.

Aren't you that guy who made a whole SET of just pictures of you? Yeah, seems so. Also, this seems like a brilliant idea, but it'd be really hard even for the best scripters of our game.

pff

it really wouldn't be that difficult just really silly

Yes, I decided to take a picture of every 1k post I get, so that I can look back on the date, and what I looked like. Bad thing?

Also, why doesn't bl allow more rotations than just on the x axis? Not saying it's bad, but why isn't it available?

Bricks would end up going into other bricks probably

Yeah.. That a bad thing? I wouldn't know, I'm used to roblox stuff, even though I played BL before, in 08.

with an engine change
it would take really little time
with a mod
it would take really long :s
though i don't like the idea of resizable bricks. It'd take to long to get bricks that are big that you want.

I'm sure it simplifies the brick grid immensely. 1x1x1 bricks are not perfect cubes, they're larger on the Z axis.

Yeah I noticed that when making the converter... Guess that was to make it simulate real Lego bricks, when it was being programmed.

wasnt the brick grid based off of the item deployment grid from Future War
