Author Topic: Would I need Kalphiter's Dedicated Hosting Service?  (Read 1919 times)

Would I need something like Kalphiters dedicated servers, or am I fine with my specs to host BL servers?

Download speed is around 33mbps.
Upload is 6mbps.
Unlimited Bandwidth.
My upload speed is always around 6mbps, never lower or higher. I also have an Intel Xeon X5690 cpu.

Just go with whatever's cheaper. From what I've seen Blockland doesn't require as much out of hosts as other games.

Wait, you "have" only the CPU? Anyway, that connection should be enough for BL servers.

I'm not sure how old that Xeon is but they're workstation CPUs (Built for servers, CAD...).

Looked up "Softlayer"

Nope.avi

Xeon is server CPUs.

Xeon is server CPUs.
I've also seen them in CAD but yeah I'm mostly known them to be in servers.

Wouldn't you use i7 or i7 extreme in CAD?

Xeon is a non-consumer CPU.

It's designed for all sorts of heavy duty work.

It would all depend on how much processing power you would need since you can go dual/triple(I think)/quad with Xeon processors on a specialized motherboard.

Apple makes workstation computers with Xeon.

I have a server computer that I built that has an Intel Xeon 12 core processor (along with the rest of the hardware). The Intel Xeon I have is just as powerful as a core i7, probably more, its also designed for server motherboards unlike Core i7s. Can you please stay focused on my question though?

Yeah but like, would Kalphs server have faster upload speeds and stuff?

Thats the point.

Use the server. Your connection is good enough.

Have you got download/upload limits and fair usage policies that your ISP has implemented?
