"The Raspberry Pi is a credit-card sized computer that plugs into your TV and a keyboard. It’s a capable little PC which can be used for many of the things that your desktop PC does, like spreadsheets, word-processing and games. It also plays high-definition video. We want to see it being used by kids all over the world to learn programming." -Raspberry Pi FAQ

Not much else to say. It's around $35 and looks like it would be a cool thing just to have. Discuss.

inb4people rage at me for saying it sucked in a previous topic

I'm registered on RS Components for it.

It looks like a chunk of a motherboard that someone glued usb ports and headphone connections onto.

It isn't 32 or 64 bit so you can't just install an OS on it. :C
Only specifically ported OS's.

But it support's debian, what more could you want?

So I could use this to watch my movies and what not?

yep
assuming you have a monitor and usb mouse (which most places have)

I saw this like two years ago

I will most likely buy one for my friend who is suppressed from the internet.

Edit: Only one problem I see is there is only a HDMI port and no VGA. :(

VGA is old, and is slowly being removed from new technology. The manufacturers didn't want to sacrifice cost for a frankly pointless feature.

If Android is capable of running on this then I'll think about getting one.

It bugs me that if this computer is so professional, they couldn't even make a case for it.

Bare in mind, this is the first release; they are planning on releasing a version with a case later.

According to their FAQ, android should work, however it would have to be ported to work with it.
"Will it run Android?

If someone in the community can port a version of Android to work with 256MB of RAM, then it’ll run on the Raspberry Pi."

They should just touch up a little bit on it and sell it as a very cool handheld device. And give it maybe a red case or a cool design.
