Author Topic: Should Corp take his computer apart and clean it  (Read 1101 times)

Bascially, I've noticed how dirty it's gotten over the past couple of days.
I can see dust coming out of the ports that I don't even use.
That's not good.
I think it may be contributing to my GPU getting messed up, so I don't really know.
Anyway, is this a good idea or not?

yes
Usually cleaning things is a good idea.

Get a can of pressurized air, a vacuum, and for the love of god- don't use water.

Costs money, I'm saving mine for a New GPU because I'm trying to keep this one going the longest.

And what about oil?

just remove the dust jeez

a vacuum is typically a bad idea unless you have one that's designed for cleaning computers

If it's a desktop go ahead and open it up, Then blow it out using a can of pressurized air or a air compressor. You shouldn't really need to unplug/remove anything (Of course you'll want to un-plug it from the wall) unless it's really, really dirty or everything's hard to get to.

Don't use water, oil or any other sort of liquid.

If it's a laptop I wouldn't take it apart unless you're looking for one of the most pain-in-the-ass reassembly projects of your life.

NEVER VACUUM YOUR COMPUTER

for forgetS sake

Don't suggest things when you don't know if they are good. Vacuuming your computer isn't a good idea because of the static electricity it generates - it can easily brick components.

Compressed air is really the best and cheapest way.

GRAB DUST WITH HAND

PUT DUST ELSEWHERE

Vacuuming could also remove the jumpers on the mother board and possibly the little battery on the mother board that holds information such as BIOS password. And other BIOS stuff
