They're offending their own school system by banning commonly used words.

Learn2read. They are only banning these words from STANDARDIZED TEST. Not from every test any teacher makes. This probably isn't to push some agenda. They want to remove certain words because they believe the test are more fair. Like if some kid had divorced parents and he sees the word "divorce" it might make him feel bad and distract him from the test. I don't really agree with this, but you guys need to realize that there is some logic behind it.
