Author Topic: looking into buying headphones?  (Read 3094 times)

Red/Blue are lovey Mak, thanks.

Alright. Time for blocklands leading audiophile to /rant again.

Beats; beats are decent headphones, they're just poorly built and over branded to hell. If they costed 200 dollars less, they'd be great. But you're paying for the little B on the ear cups. With the specs of those headphones, you shouldn't pay more than $250.

Skullcandys; skullcandys are great on the budget headphones. They provide ample sound quality, with a decent bass. They're incredibly affordable (when you're talking about the earbuds, the on ear and over the ear headphones are rubbish and overpriced).

My personal recommendations; if you've ever seen me talking about headphones, you see me rave about AKG. They're a brand from Harman-Kardon. They can run fairly high, but I promise they'll be the best looking and sounding OTE headphones. Now, if you're more into earbuds, then my recommendation is House of Marley. They are (to my knowledge) the only headphone brand to use wood casings around the speakers for better acoustics. They also go with a great cause, much of the purchase goes to charity. Their main downside is that they have the generic red yellow green Rastafarian colors on the cable. Though that doesn't bother me.

Quoting for page loss. I really hope he heeds my advice. The ones makanix posted are terribad.

They're good enough for me. An upgrade from my iPod earbuds anyway...

You can buy something "good enough" for much cheaper.

Compared to some $200 ones, I thought these were pretty good for only $70. And good enough for me meaning I don't mind if they're not the best I could get with that money.

Yeah, but its still better to do your research than to throw money away.

The thing with Roxcore SL-55 is that they're $15 in Sweden... which should mean they cost half as much in the states.
So, great audio +  use them anywhere + cheap as hell

i read up on what beachbum posted, i was never really into the beats and skullcandys, thanks for clearing that up for me :P

im not really an earbuds guy. after a while they make my ears hurt. not sound wise, they are just uncomfortable for me. someone was interested in selling me some Sennheiser HD555 headphones, and they seem pretty good. i could really care less about what they look like, i just want something good, and these seem pretty nice, based on what the sellers page says:
Quote
* A comfortable, high-quality headphone system
 * Extended spatial field surrounds you with sound; ergonomic Acoustic Refinement enables ideal sound channeling for a new kind of listening experience
 * Features State of the Art Duolfol diaphragms
 * Velour ear pads let you keep glasses on while listening
 * Comes with manufacturer's 2-year warranty
any thoughts? i think its pretty good and might go for them

You can buy it off of amazon and there will be hundreds of reviews.

I am completely 100% agains anything sennheiser beside their studio headphones. They're poorly built and over priced.
