Author Topic: Does ID Matter?  (Read 3940 times)

No. I am tired of ID national socialists bitching at me because my ID is 30051. I worked with the demo for two years in singleplayer to learn how everything worked and to practice my aim, and I've outsniped, outevented, outgunned, outrocketed, and outbuilded many ID national socialists (I even outscripted one, he couldn't even edit and I made an akimbo raygun). And they all still just insulted me condescendingly and left.

Demo mode won't really teach you how to build with its brick limit, or teach you how to fight against real players. Nor to understand community / server etiquette.

The ID argument is not an insult. If I see a 34k preaching to me about how Blockland is even though I've been playing for several years, I will bring their ID up. But there is a limit, I wouldn't say anything it if was a 15 - 20k because they would have been here for a year or two, too.

It has a legitimate usage, and it also has an illegitimate usage (for petty insults or deflection).

when I first joined in V10, most 9k and below ID's used to bitch about ID's being higher than theirs.

'ID discrimination' hasn't been an issue for a while, this is most unusual.

The only time I use ID to set people apart, is when a person who is around my ID (14745) I have a connection with them, I find few 14k'rs so it's nice when I do. That and anyone below 10k is occational more well known or used to the game. I've seen many good 30k and all, the lower ID's just have a sign saying that you should expect some good from them.
Unfortunately that means High ID's have a sign saying they should expect a kick soon.
Curse my email deleteion, I want my 14522 ID Back :c

Also ID does not really matter its more of how you act cause if your a say, 3k? and you act like a handicap wile a 34k acts like hes been playing the game for years i'm pretty sure ID does not matter entirely.

I used to be a 22k but when I lost the activation code, I had to use a spare 12k key that my friend bought by accident.

So yeah, I'm 22k. I kinda use it to disprove the ID discriminatory people.

Depends. If you wonder when somebody joined, it matters.

But by judgement, it doesn't.

My original account is 19569. I proceeded to get another account for my other computer, which was 22702. I'm pretty sure that I got better known and liked as 22702, along with doing cooler stuff.

IDs do have..
..a legitimate usage

says when somebody joined the game.

a ID to lock doors and set variables.

some people change their names so damn much, you couldn't identify them without the ID.

when you bought the game.

I find IDs pretty useful.

Especially Barn's point is vital.
Because, then you can for example become anonymous by just changing your name. Also, how would banning work?

I think OP meant in a more 'judgement' fashion than the practical gameplay reasons.
I do often join servers and randomly screenshot a whole bunch of BL_ID's before I spawn.
And whenever soemone is an idiot, I screenie his BLID.

But lessee...

Hangon now, I did learn to build well within the demo's brick limit. I used lots of addon brickpacks back then to ensure that I got the best build for my limited brick usage. And I have a theory on how to bypass the brick limit in the demo... I will laugh so hard if it winds up working.
Demos did teach me how to fight against real players, because I would do almost RP-like 'imaginary games' with myself and try to predict what the other would do in any particular situation and how I would counteract that. I also learned how to shoot a target while I am moving, while the target is moving (through bot events), and both. It was pretty darn useful. I also learned events, often to make small event-rigged deathtrap builds. And randomly richard around. Randomly richarding around wound up teaching me a whole lot about the game.
And why no-chatting matters: You're either antisocial, or havent' figured out that you hit the T key to chat. Except in fast paced action servers, in which case it's completely understandable to avoid typekilled.

ids matter they can be used to identify people event and when the 33000 pretends to be badspot i can prove him wrong :P

ID matters so people are identifiable by scripts thats really the only function it has

Yes. A 35k who can build well is an alt.
Thats so stupid.

Thats so stupid.
I completely agree. It's an idiotic assumption.

Quote for Truth

Personally I believe IDs do not matter, it only signifies when a person bought the game.  It's the person behind the ID that truly matters.

Of course, when it comes to matters of experience obviously you're going to expect more from a lower ID.

An ID is an ID, that's that.
