Ignorant people find death metal to be screaming and random mish mash of guitars and drums. The good bands are very skilled and technical at what they do. As for the screaming, I'd like to point out that "it [too] is another instrument. It's distorted, just like the guitars" (taken from the wisdom of VH).

Listen to Substructure or The Contortionist, excellent tech death bands.
