WHAT COLOR IS THIS?

duck

that wasn't the point OP was making i don't think

No, what he's saying is that while everyone would call the same color 'red', if you went inside someone else's mind and saw what they see as red, perhaps to you it looks green. How do we know we don't all see different colors?

Colors are colors. We all know that.

But please consider the following...

What if red to me is actually purple to you, but since you've always been taught to see that color as red, you think it's red?

I know that there's all of this crazy scientific stuff
and it's all about pigs or something, I don't know even.
but anyway,

discuss.

I've discussed this before, it's a good theory, but I wouldn't dwell on it too much.

WHAT COLOR IS THIS?

'Tis reddish.

Even if you're theory was true it would be impossible to prove and would never even affect our daily lives. I could see red as yellow, and you could see red as purple, but we would both still refer to it as "red" so there would be no communication issue.

It doesn't work like that. It has to do with the Electromagnetic Visible Spectrum, we're seeing the same colors. It's basic science.
yes, the frequencies are the same, but the cones on your retina may make your brain interpret them as what you'd interpret as another colour

It's most likley true we see colours differently, everyones eyes are different after all.

What if society didint believe in color
there was never a name for it.
nobody ever noticed it
it was just there
we see it but we don't notice it
Like in the book: The Giver

Guys, wht OP means is that, let's say there's a red ball. You call the red ball blue, i call it purple, another actually calls it red. Its like, mre about what you interpret the colour as, not being colourblind.

you know there's more than one type of colorblindness right?

yes i know

The reason why we can't prove it is because we can only identify the colors by their "given" names. Like red in my eyes could by blue to someone else, but we both agree it is red because that color has been given that name.

Even if you're theory was true it would be impossible to prove and would never even affect our daily lives. I could see red as yellow, and you could see red as purple, but we would both still refer to it as "red" so there would be no communication issue.

Argh... beat me to it...

seriously

It's most likley true we see colours differently, everyones eyes are different after all.

Actually, we see the same colors. It's rare to have a case of somebody seeing a color differently.
