Author Topic: The future of gaming?  (Read 1821 times)

What do you guy's foresee in the future of games? What trends to do you predict? Will traditional gaming disappear and make way for some new stuff?

I personally think that everybody who considers themselves gamers or hardcore gamers will be playing on the PC. I've noticed that consoles are starting to really focus on casual gaming and I think that most gamers who really want to game will notice how dumbed down things are getting and move on to computers so that they can mod the games or whatever.
The competitive gaming community has always been more serious on computers than the consoles' communities so I don't think its far off

The future of gaming is virtual reality.
And lasers.

I would be a pc gamer if I could stuff gold bricks like you guys.

Throwing a ball into a cup.

Throwing a ball into a cup.
Then when it gets really advanced, there'll be a string tied between the cup and the ball increasing difficulty by staggering amounts.

Everyone will go back to retro controller gaming because they want to be able to sit down and play a game with an excellent story over hand motion arcade crap.

I can't see motion control catching on. It was a rather lousy gimmick for a health-nut generation of games. Old-fashioned on-the-couch controller gaming is the gold standard.
I can also foresee SMELL-O-VISION
(just kidding)
Maybe the next-gen consoles will feature 3D for some of their games.
(didn't we try that once, like fifteen years ago?)
I can't see the great PC-vs.-Console war lasting much longer. It's all about graphics and mods anyway.
And on the subject of mods, I believe that someday consoles will have a modding community.

"I have a dream that one day, down in cyberspace, with its vicious PC supremacists, with its game companies having their lips dripping with the words of PC superiority and console inferiority; one day right there in cyberspace, little PC gamer boys and PC gamer girls will be able to join hands with little console gamer boys and console gamer girls as sisters and brothers."

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 14

I miss the Diablo and Gauntlet sessions I used to play with my dad and my friend. Those were some of the best days of my childhood.

Uh.
Im running skyrim on a $500 PC at medium quality.
I hate when people say you need a $3000 computer to do anything decent.

Honestly?
In 10 years things will be the same.
Motion control will never catch on, but I do believe that if anybody were to fully flesh out Virtual Reality, that will be widely used.

3D, motion control, and virtual reality will never catch on.

Honestly what the hell is wrong with just sitting down with a control.

Y'all gotta make this stuff loving complicated

racing sims will probably be more popular and maybe even take over :o
