Author Topic: The Misuse of the word "gay"  (Read 3447 times)

Okay prepare for rant.

I absolutely hate when people misuse the word "gay." Gay is the a simile for homoloveual, not a simile for stupid.
For example, people will say "Wow, that word is so gay." Since when was a word capable of having the ability to like the same love as his/her self? Another is "School is gay." When ever someone says that, I always ask them "Why didn't anyone tell me that school likes the same love as its self?" I've been really offended about this lately for no reason, but for a good reason. I really hope I'm not the only one who thinks that the misuse of gay is wrong, and stupid.

TL;DR: Using gay for stupid is offending to people, so stop it.
Same thing goes for "friend"

Im pretty sure gay is the synonym for Happy.

As Frank Zappa said, words are just words.

it's become blatantly obvious that when people call something gay with a negative connotation, they aren't intentionally trying to be offensive to homoloveuals. The definition of the word has been altered by society to not mean homoloveual when used to describe something negatively.

You're just being a huge baby.

Im pretty sure gay is the simile for Happy.
I think you both mean synonym

Th-
topic is gay
I was just about to write that.
You're gay.

Get over it, seriously. I know gay people who use gay to mean stupid. Its another definition of the word now-a-days. Eventually it will die out. In like the 80s and 90s everything was handicapped or a re-re and that died out a lot.

OP is a gay homocigarette because his avatar is rainbows anyway~

"gay" alone isn't a simile for anything, period

Homophobic people really piss me off.

It's just like the word "sick"

Or "tight"

TL;DR: Using gay for stupid is offending to people, so stop it.
oh forget off, i haven't met a single gay person who gets offended by people using that word to mean other things

It's just like the word "sick"

Or "tight"
well both of those can be used in unison
>after riding really loving ridiculous rollercoaster
that was sick, bro

>after loving a young teenager's ass
>that was tight, bro
