Author Topic: What computer/laptop/desktop shall I get  (Read 1798 times)

alien ware is great
it's just overpriced with terrible customer support
doesnt mean the actual hardware is bad

if you are a regular person who wants to get into gaming, sure.

i think asus would be a better option for that purchase, though.

you know that this is a community who plays blockland AND other games.

explain the games board then.

I was joking :P

I recommend staying far, far away from Alienware and Dell

You should go to the computer megathread and nicely ask Ethan to gather you a part list if you want a desktop, however he could also help you in selecting a prebuilt or a laptop.
/agree
only the expensive stuff from alienware works well

He said in the OP that he doesn't want a desktop you baboons.

Well I could get it but.. hmm

I've never bought a desktop.

I've bought a couple of second hand old Macs to play around with, bought a desktop motherboard and done a "breadboard" sorta thing, and used many desktops. But whenever I've owned a computer I've gone for a laptop just because I like to move around the house and sit on couches when using computers.

If you want to game on it, a laptop is a tougher choice. It'll cost more, it'll need to be internally dusted a lot to keep the fans efficient, and you might need a cooling pad to make playing on it more comfortable. Otherwise you'll find the computer may shut down when it gets too hot.

Getting a desktop is cheaper, and more comfortable for gaming. Its also easier to upgrade a desktop if you wanted to. Of course, you'll need a desk and an office chair, and you'll be stuck in one place. I like moving my computers around, and I pay the price for it. I still get to play GTA IV and Blockland smoothly though. :3

Dell is good but its expensive
Alienware is stuff from what I heard
HP is just over all bullstuff
Toshiba is good.

I've always used Dells and they've never failed me, try a Dell.

Dell is awful. Alienware seems good but I've heard lots of bad things.

HP has never been great for me. But weirdly, Compaq has been the most affordable and reliable computer brand I've purchased, and the higher end Compaq computers are a great balance between hardware and price. I'm not sure enough people realize this.

Agree that Toshiba is good. Asus is great too.

Building your own computer isn't a very good option unless you are actively interested in doing so and confident enough to handle hardware.

I'm a Dell guy so that's why I learn towards Dell but your inputs valid too. Dell is good but they mess up easy is the only flaw.

As for building... Its not easy because the mother board will have you going

You can build without the Numpad.
