Author Topic: Reading Lord of the Rings; Need help.  (Read 790 times)

I grew up on the LotR movies, I absolutely love them. I have the collectors edition and several other doodads.
But, I grew tired of calling myself a "Fan" of  the series, when I had never read the books. Well, I went over to Hastings (book store) about a month ago and picked up the four book set, The Hobbit, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and Return of the king. I read The Hobbit, and love it. I then moved onto the Fellowship of the ring, but was disappointed when I couldnt get further than 50 pages in. Watching the movies really forgeted me up. I keep on thinking to myself, "This wasnt in the movie" or, "How did the movie forget this part? Its pretty loving important". In the end, I just cant get into the book because of the major differences between the movie and it.

Right now, im about to go back to Hastings and pick up the other books in the series, just for the sake of getting in the lore and not being interrupted by the thoughts of the movies.

What should I do :c

Moral of the story: READ THE loving BOOK FIRST.

Find an audio book.
I don't like audio books. I can't listen to them in class.

Pro-Tip: just keep reading it.

It might help if you make a list of all the differences between the movies and the books. Try to figure out why the writers changed certain parts and what their logic behind it is.
