Author Topic: What are quarks made of?  (Read 4455 times)

Most people know that everything is made of Atoms, and Atoms are made of neutrons, protons, and electrons, and those are made of quarks. But what's a quark made of? And once we find out, what is that made of? And that? If you think about it, it would go on forever. But that wouldn't make any sense.
Some people I've heard say that they don't think quarks are made of anything. But how can something be made of nothing? Nothing can be made of nothing can it? And if that's true, then at its root, wouldn't that mean that everything is made of nothing?
I've never quite understood this, it seems like the only two solutions are paradoxes. I might be wrong, but I didn't feel like going into the deep physics of things to find out.
So what do you guys think?

they're made out of PURE ENERGY

Everything's probably made out of small universes.

Our universe is contained inside the smallest particle of another universe and so on. :D

Would make for an interesting sci-fi book.

maybe

quarks are made out of

quarks???

maybe

quarks are made out of

quarks???
That doesn't seem like it'd make sense either, how can something just be made of itself? Everything is made of something

Ever heard of string theory?

That doesn't seem like it'd make sense either, how can something just be made of itself? Everything is made of something
no i meant like

what if quarks are just the most basic thing

like, you can't go farther than that

Ever heard of string theory?
then what are the strings made out of?
That doesn't seem like it'd make sense either, how can something just be made of itself? Everything is made of something
well, oxygen's made out of two oxygens, soooo

then what are the strings made out of?
they're made of strings.
they're zero dimensional.
nothing else makes them up.

so what is god made of

lol

they're made of strings.
they're zero dimensional.
nothing else makes them up.
if something is infinitely small, how does it ever manage to make up something
Nope.
O2 (aka oxygen cigarette) is two oxygen molecules

so what is god made of

lol
Well I could answer, but I can tell you don't really care and just want to start an argument :P
This conversation has nothing to do with religion, you really don't have to bring it up

O2 (aka oxygen cigarette) is two oxygen molecules
O3 is also made of oxygen. No scientist who has any communication skills refers to diatomic oxygen as "Oxygen." Your statement was also a fallacy; you used two different definitions of oxygen and pretended they were the same and different at the same time.
