I'm sure we're not gonna have WWIII. We may both have nukes, but we did and Russia did during the Cold War, and we had different beliefs of government, but we never nuked each other.

Three words as to why nuclear war is almost an impossibility:

Mutually Assured Destruction.

No one, not even Korea, wants that.

WWIII will not happen until October 24th, 2013.
The world will be thrown into chaos and former allies will be enemies, with few ally groups remaining.
Everyone will start throwing missles at each other and shooting and stuff until May 14, 2014, at which Iran attacks the Americas, the UK, Russia, Africa and Canada with a bioweapon.
The bacteria in it is loaded with junk DNA that will accidentaly get mutated and merged with the main DNA that turns it into a parasitic creature that eats most of your brain and takes over your body, however it enters the body in a bacterial form.
The people who are naturaly immune will survive while the rest of the world becomes infected. This will mark the end of WWIII and the beginning of the 12-year period known as the Outbreak which will eventualy lead to the Omega period and the rise of humanity from the ashes of chaos.

You're confusing UN with NATO.

Since the US seems to be the main nation that they're quabbling with, it's appropriate to call it by name, instead of simply saying that "it's us vs them" as a blanket statement.

No. The UN is the main character here. NATO is screwed if they launch a short ranged missile, which they are capable of.

Us is referring to the UN allies. As in, everyone. Unless you know where they will attack, it would be unintelligent to say just the US.

they were too pusillanimous individual to enforce their rules against Riddler's SS and stuff, so it happenedthe majority of the members here are American, even if it's close

Germany was all like sadface after loosing WW1
then Riddler (which was a real loser before) appeared and started his SS stuff to cheer the people up and get control.
When the people realized what he was doing it was too late and Germany was knee deep in stuff.
