just as both russia and china jointly threatened all 3 of us/uk/isreal NOT to go into syria or iran.

What would you suppose would happen if North Korea dropped a nuke on a UN country? Nukes have almost caused wars in the past, and the fact that they're trying to get a long ranged nuke over to us will at very least start another Cold War. Given North Koreas behavior, and new lack of food, I can likely see them being enraged and doing something stupid.

china supports them because they are a communist country that borders china, and will not support anything UN.
china dont have to like how n.korea runs things for themselves to still support them and use them strategically.

countries all trading with each other and generally not being at war does not mean we are friends.
the cold war technically isnt over. and there are more super powers having an arms race then ever before.

sure we play nice most of the time, we need each other for ALL of our economies. but we arent dependent on that as peace. we still all hate each other.

That alone will be enough at least for us to protect each other. If the US was nuked, particularly NYC, a lot of countries would be screwed and upset.
