Author Topic: To buy an Android phone, or not to buy.  (Read 1683 times)

I don't really want to turn this into an iOS vs. Android thread, but I have never had an Android phone. I love my iPhone a lot, but I've had an iPhone since I was like 12 or something. I'm kind of sick of it. I want to keep my iPhone just in case Android disgusts me (it has in the past) so I don't want some insanely priced contract (look at this stuff) so I'm thinking of getting the Motorola Triumph from Virgin Mobile. It's $300 though. I need to be swayed either way, I'm kind of on the fence.

Update: I bought the Motorola Triumph. Feel free to continue discussion, however.

Personally I would say Android. But it depends.

Gingerbread or ICS?

i hear you, my black berry is so loving old, i've had it for 3-4 years, i get a new one in june.

anyway try it out, but keep your iphone incase.

Gingerbread or ICS?

Only says Android 4.1

Yeah, I'm just planning on it being a secondary phone. One I can forget around on, maybe redirect more serious calls through it as a pseudo-business phone.

Bump. I need some more opinions.

lol I'm sticking with my jailbroken iphone
it is literally everything I could want
hell, even un-jailbroken iOS is a great mobile platform

My buddy has the triumph. I prefer my iPhone over it.

Oh, yeah. I love my iPhone. I'm not dumping it. This would simply be a second phone. Just for loving around. Android has some cool stuff iOS doesn't though, that's why I want to check it out.

I despise Android. I have an iPhone right now, love the simplicity and quality of iTunes that the Android Market didn't used to have. But one phone that looked like it could tie my entire life together was that one that ran with a completely Google OS. Looked interesting, but still, if you like games go iPhone, if you like full out customization go Android; like with any technology lol, pros and cons..

I have the Triumph. It doesnt come with "Android 4.1" as you said, it comes with 2.2 but you can root it to an alpha of 4.0 C9. I love the phone and ICS is hot.

I should talk to you about that, because I'm not quite sure if it's something I want to do in the future with my iPhone, or with my old iPod Touch now.

I figured I'd just buy the thing and play around with it. Worst case scenario I sell it on eBay for $250 and someone will snap it up because it goes for like $600 without a contract.

You're right. I don't know where I saw 4.1. My bad.

You saw the 4.1 rating Im assuming. Also the phone goes ~300 without contract, not 600.

Il sell you a blackberry curve for 50$.
and I love android.
