stuff happens that you can't avoid sometimes even walking in "safer areas". I see no reason not to carry a weapon. With the right for an individual to carry a concealed carry license or knife, crime rates decrease rather than increase. But with the restrictions increased, the demand for illegal weaponry goes up and it basically disarms the citizens and arms the robbers.

It's not really a reason not to have it. A pocket knife can be practical in plenty of situations, but on the off chance someone does try to rob you, odds are it won't be much use there unless they're unarmed for some reason. If they are brandishing another knife, you probably won't get the chance to use yours unless they have ADD.
