I need to split a large video (.avi) clip into many smaller ones

I tried Google-ing it.  All I could find were crappy things that leave you with a tiny file and things that only cut documents (thefrick?).  So, can someone give me a download link to something that can split my video into many smaller ones?
Also, if you could give me some keywords to search for other than "Split large videos into much smaller clips", that would be great!
Sort of like making them into scenes, but all different files.

.... I'm not being lazy, I fricken searched and searched and found nothing that I needed.  My editors suck BUTT and won't do the job I want.

He's basically asking for help in looking. And technically probing this forum and it's users for information is searching and acts as a crutch for a quicker result. Lay off starfishs.

I recommend downloading A sony vegas demo or After Effects demo and making the best out of the trial. They have good video clipping tools

Hmm, well are they fast?  This needs to be done pretty fast.
Also, if you thought I meant so I could edit it more easily, then it wouldn't work :P.  I need separate video files much smaller than the large thing.

It's about as fast as it can get. You just have to do it manually because there is no program that can automatically select portions of the video for you.
