it's a good thing no one will ever find out my e-mail account! :cookieMonster:

Now you've just opened that one up to spam.

Starting to see why your email accounts are so screwed.  :cookieMonster:

So? I trust you guys, and besides, its not like you forgeters know my password. You can send me as much stuff as you want; I'll just delete it

Not what I was referring to.

Spam bots often cycle through websites and pick up on email addresses, where they are collected and abused.

You really need to do a 101 on email security.

But what I'm confused upon is how they would get my password.

I'm using a new password on the new account to be sure, as well. It's far more insane (like 15 letters and 5 numbers and a few symbols and stuff).

They put the email on spam lists and you get like a dozen spam mails a day. Oh and thanks for that info, you just shaved off a day or two from brute forcing your email password. No wonder your first email was broken into.

Oh and OP, was it really that hard to just PM him?

keyword being - "Like"

Gmail lets me filter out email adresses that send stuff to me so I can just block it out.

Also, those numbers I said were random. It's not like I'd go about saying the exact amount.

I don't get why people are so secretive with their e-mails. I've had mine public on several sites for years and NEVER got any spam which has gotten past GMail's spam filter.

Because getting sent e-mail is a security breach!

Once again, not even once has GMail's spam filter not picked up a spam e-mail I've got. For years. Of having it public on a ton of sites. And in the unlikely case where it would let it through it's easy to delete it yourself.

Because getting sent e-mail is a security breach!

Who said that?

Though now you mention it, emails can be a security breach if they contain infected content.

Once your email is out there and picked up by spam bots, it is also more vulnerable to being picked up by people who will work to exploit it or figure out the password, and then sell the details on to the black market or find out your other passwords or website store receipts.

Shouldn't be getting spam messages in the first place. The fact you are receiving them means something or someone has picked up on your address.

My email accounts never get spam.

So you don't open the attachments. Problem solved.

I basically don't get them, because IT'S ALL IN THE SPAM FOLDER WHICH I NEVER CHECK ANYWAY. How does it even matter whether it's in there or not? I'd rather have my e-mail public than not get spammed (which, all in all, is usually around 50-60 spam mails a month, not too bad).

Just pointing out that you are wrong. There were cases of emails infecting computers without the attachments being opened, if I recall. I couldn't cite you a time though.

My point was that an email online is an email spammed. You are receiving spam. Having a client that sorts it out for you is convenient, but it shouldn't happen in the first place.

Its your own fault.

Holy loving stuff are you serious? Not bad? Jesus man.

I'm not complaining. I don't even notice it, so why the hell should I care?

Nobody said you should. Just you seemed to be denying that public emails were bad, but you are being spammed so bad it makes me cringe.

Just be happy that Gmail is good enough to hold it back for you.

EDIT: and Mack, learn from DontCare4Free. Case in point.

Oh pardon, I though he was still using Live. GMail is pretty sweet at blocking out spam.

His old was Live/Hotmail, new was GMail.
