Author Topic: Anyone else OCD like hell over their own drawings?  (Read 1322 times)

basically the problem is this horrible psychological stabmark that can be explained as "regardless of others' reassurations, everything I draw blows chunks compared to others' doodles".

i mean, the head shape is a bit off, the hat is misaligned by a pixel, the proportions are forgeted, etc
when I'm just doodling in simple vectors I don't really care, but when trying to draw something serious for once I just flop over on my desk in frustation
anyone else knows that feel?

Over criticizing your own art work (no matter its form) is something everyone does. The trick is to learn how to control that, and just do. You'll get better with time by just making art the way you make it, and not over brown townyzing every detail. The details you used to stress over will kind of fade away. As always the saying stands true, practice makes perfect.

I didn't know OCD was a verb.

But yes, I obsessive compulsive disorder over my own drawings (sometimes others') because I actually have it.

I didn't know OCD was a verb.
Welcome to the internets. We bend the grammars like a boss.

Welcome to the internets. We bend the grammars like a boss.

People at my school do this, it's irritating as hell.

"I'm so OCD about ____"

I feel like saying "You don't even know what it's like, you don't have it. Don't loving say that."

I have massive OCD about my handwriting. If I write a lowercase "a" and the tail is just a little off I'll erase it and rewrite it multiple times, then spend time precision erasing the pencil smears.

I do belive that I have to agree. Maybe its partially that you know every single detail about your art that other people don't care to notice.

However, when I think about it. Getting OCD over your art may not be a bad thing at all. If you didn't care about what you were drawing, you wouldn't try to perfect it.
