Author Topic: I need some help involving line art  (Read 1165 times)

Please do not reply to the thread if you don't have an opinion/tips/advice on how I should do LINE ART

Do not talk about the sketch itself. The entire point of this thread is to get help with LINE ART

Thank you.

Hey guys, I need some feedback on what the hell I should do for line art. Also, I'm using Paint Tool Sai. So if you're a Sai user then that would be A++. Even if you're not a Sai user, you can still help me.

Even if you don't draw on computer/at all, I could still really benefit from your opinions.

But I do need advice on line art.

Now, if I do decide to "finish" this rough sketch, and color it, how should I do the line art? Should I color it without lines like my MLP artwork? Or should I use SAI's vector system? or should I just use a pencil brush for the lines. If I use the pencil brush, they'll probably turn out terribly sloppy. Perhaps the "stabilizer" will help, I don't know.

If I do use line art, how thick should I make them? Thin lines are very common in manga/anime art. But I've also seen nice manga drawings with very thick styled lines. And thin lines are somewhat hard to do IMO. That's why I don't use lines. :c

And thick lines look nice and are possibly easier to do than lines. Though I have almost no experience with lines, let alone thick lines.

That's why I'm asking for guidance/advice/ and opinions on what style/thickness I should use or if I should use lines art.

Keep lines, never use pastel colors.

I did have a bunch of friends who could've helped you, but then they went and got pissed at me for no reason a few weeks back.

What do you mean?

Keep the sketch lines and color within them, but don't delete them afterwards?

umg repawted fur nudityyy

I would go with whatever is the most comfortable, which also looks nice. If you feel more comfortable with coloring without outlines, then do with that. If you feel comfortable with other methods, then use those.

I'm assuming that's what he means.

I feel unconformable with using thin lines, so I probably won't use thin lines.

I may, however, try thick lines. It may be a fun experiment.

Plus, I like the way thick line art looks.

It's a sketch. Plenty of changes will made to it before I decide to finish it.

I appreciate the constructive criticism, but for now I'm just looking for help with line art.

No, it's supposed to be Miku Hatsune.

Try without lines. I can't do that because Paint.Net isn't the best of the softwares availiable but the thing is you should try to focus on light and how it effects shading.

i wouldn't be suprised

Thick lines look alright, but I do all my work on paper, which is why I use several thin lines on the broad side of my MECHANICAL PENCIL to draw, because it looks nice imo.

That's what I did with all my MLP fan drawings. There's a 50/50 chance that I'll probably just do that.

However, for it being a "manga style" character/drawing, it may seem unfitting, though. But that's my opinion.

Plus, I should try something new/different for me.
