Author Topic: I'm failing French.  (Read 2429 times)

Only reason I don't like French is because I can't speak it correctly. Some words are really long and you only pronounce half of it.
French isn't actually that hard for me. I dunno if it's because I have French-Canadian relatives or what. :U
(They speak mostly French and I try to understand it, so I guess I've had a lot of practice.)
You contradicted yourself there.

You say you can't speak it but you say you can? *Mind boggled*

I just have a pronunciation issue so I just say things as close as I can.

My German teacher knows 5 languages.

Skorp, do you ever plan on going to France or a French-speaking country?

No. My mother rants on about unemployment.
I explained to her no employer wants to pay someone extra to speak French.
Computer programs can already do it.

French, Spanish and Italian, which are all "Modern Foreign Languages" aren't really that helpful to the average person in getting a job.
It might make your CV/Resume more interesting/stand out but I doubt it will make the biggest difference, and you're not likely to find jobs that are going to ask of it, unless you're going to work in France or French speaking countries, obviously.

It would be languages like German, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and such that would be most useful in jobs.
And if you had one of those languages as a skill I would imagine most employers would find that as better than if you had French or Spanish.

Well then that's getting you absolutely loving nowhere no one ought to give a forget if you fail

If I were in your position it'd be good for me, I'm going to Italy, France, Switzerland, and Austria this summer and I don't want to be all like "lolwut are they saying?"
woot.

When I went to France, I forgeted up ordering a happy meal.
First time the person taking my order has to switch to English.
Second time I ordered two so I gave the teacher my money so we had one each.

why is it always the teacher's fault when someone is failing

well I dunno about OP's area, but a lot of colleges I've seen require having passed a foreign language class in high school

Francais est très facile dans mon opinion (lol dunno what opinion is in French). Mon professeur was (dunno past tense words) excellent et je received (dunno past tense words) un 96 dans la classe.

I can understand what is said, but I have a hard time speaking it myself.

Well, my writing exam ison Tuesday. Probably going to do badly and the teacher will say "ITSBECAUSE YOU DIDNT REVISE". They tend to tell us to revise to learn whatwe miss in class. That means they aren't teaching us correctly.
We might aswell teach ourselves then.

I hate French too. My mother is French Canadian and she expects me to be naturally good at it. More than half my family is on my moms side so I have like 12 only French speaking cousins and 4 french uncle's (one passed away recently ;-;). My French teacher is lazy as hell, gets only 4 hours of sleep per night, she has been teaching for nearly 20 years and is always 10 minutes late to class. And she is one of those teachers that will give you an easy ass study guide and then on the actual quiz or test she will put almost all trick questions. She also takes off almost a full mark if you forget to put in an accent. fml. I just need to pull through it and hope I don't die.
